Blairgowrie landscaper, Richard Robertson, landscaped this small, classic, western red cedar, Rye holiday home a few years ago now. We chose to share this makeover to demonstrate how effectively this tired, older style home was rejuvenated with our simple landscaping concept.
The owners of this property requested a simple yet effective, low maintenance makeover for their holiday home. The garden is drought tolerant and low maintenance. Richard Robertson Landscapes retained the existing native trees enabling them to become a natural feature and to retain shade and privacy from the front of the property. The decking areas were cleared, replaced and extended creating new, user friendly outdoor barbeque and entertaining areas.
Richard Robertson Landscapes cleared and reshaped the existing driveway design and its surrounding garden areas and constructed a new driveway in exposed aggregate concrete. Garden beds were cleared and replanted alongside the new driveway using salt and drought tolerant coastal grasses and shrubs. A new retaining wall was constructed along one side of the new driveway and outdoor landscape lighting installed. New brush panel fencing was constructed along the property boundary side of the new aggregate driveway.
The tired staircase, upstairs decking, pergola and barbeque area was completely cleared out. Richard Robertson Landscapes reconstructed and extended the decking area creating increased space for outdoor furniture and entertaining. The existing native trees were retained to provide shade and privacy from the street. Balustrading and brush panel fencing were also constructed. RRL also constructed a pedestrian gate leading from the driveway and give easy access whilst retaining privacy from the driveway and street frontage.
